Illegal Hacking of Set Top Boxes
CY4OR conducted an investigation of Virgin Media set top boxes which had been hacked to receive subscription television channels.
Internet Misuse in the Workplace
An in house IT Department had been remotely monitoring the employee for some time; to confirm their suspicions and justify disciplinary action, they immediately employed the services of computer forensic specialists.
Professional Negligence
CY4OR have had extensive experience implementing search and seize orders, and have been appointed by the court on a number of occasions. Once instructed, CY4OR executed a search and seize order on the suspect’s office and subsequently seized four personal computers for forensic analysis.
Keylogging
A bank had discovered a small hardware device, around an inch in size that had been placed at the connection point between a computer and the keyboard. The device was in fact a ‘Keycatcher’, a piece of keylogging software used to store any keystroke entered by all users of any machine that it was connected to.
Intellectual Property Theft
A UK based communications company dismissed a contractor, who had been working for the company for five years developing and maintaining a database of business/corporate customers. The contractor in question had been using a cross platform database application that was not supported by the company.
Hacking
The Managing Director of the UK branch of a multi-national finance company contacted CY4OR with concerns that an unauthorised user was gaining access to the companies PC’s.
Corporate Fraud
A UK based manufacturing company had set up a subsidiary company in mainland Europe to sell its products. In time a drop in sales was noticed and it was felt that the contracted sales advisors were recommending rival products.
Corruption and Internet Misuse
An employee of one of the UK's largest communications companies stated that he was being dealt with unprofessionally by his manager. Whilst the company’s human resources departments were dealing with this complaint an email was uncovered with content that was sufficiently serious to necessitate a full internal investigation.
